About The Position

General Summary Of Duties: Supervise Steward's department employees, maintain standards and methods of operation. Follow up on all assignments concerning banquet functions etc., also check to make sure all kitchen outlets are well maintained and clean to standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language in order to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions and to provide clear direction/guidance. Ability to relate to all levels of management and employees in verbal/written form.
  • Requires reading and math skill for inventories and scheduling.
  • Ability to understand written English to read any caution or safety notices.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or verbal instructions from supervisor.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity of hand in order to use computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Ability to operate office equipment including personal computer, photocopier and camera.
  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the assignment, work performance and conduct of subordinate employees.
  • Maintain standards, method of operation and department reports/records/schedules using computer keyboard to input/retrieve information from computer system.
  • Inventory and document department equipment and materials to maintain adequate supplies, using logs, basic math skills and calculator.
  • Respond to complaints/concerns in a positive manner, negotiate a compromise and implement a solution.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to staff. Assign and instruct subordinates in details of work. Observe performance and encourage improvement. Monitor level of work load and make staffing adjustments accordingly.
  • Answer the multi-line telephone and provide information as needed.
  • Communicate with supervisor throughout the shift.
  • Ability to access and input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and implement control over the performance of subordinates.
  • Supervise staff including scheduling, training, counseling and discipline.
  • Adheres to control procedure for labor costs, quality and sanitation.
  • Ability to deal with a number of problems requiring initiative and good judgment.
  • Check station before, during and after shift for proper set-up and cleanliness.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies needed to perform job function.
  • Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
  • Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.
