The SVP, Head of Engineering, Mortgage will be a senior technology executive responsible for operating, shaping and executing the engineering strategy for our Mortgage segment. This role drives transformation, fosters innovation (infused with AI), modernizes applications, ensures delivery of scalable, secure, and high performing AI first applications. As a thought partner to our Mortgage Product Leadership team and our clients, the SVP, Head of Engineering, Mortgage will help transform our business for its next chapter of Cotality’s AI transformation.

Requirements

  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and motivate a large engineering organization with urgency and empathy.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into a clear technology vision.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Business Acumen: Strong understanding of business principles and the ability to make technology decisions that drive business value.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Business and Technology Alignment: Deep understanding of business goals, be able to translate them into a technology strategy that drives both business and technology objectives.
  • Technology Knowledge: Stay current with industry trends, skills, and patterns for implementing AI first solutions.
  • Data and AI Awareness: Understand how to leverage AI and data to create more intelligent applications and more efficient processes.
  • Cyber Security, Regulatory Adherence: Understanding: An understanding of cyber security best practices as well as developing within regulatory frameworks to manage risk.
  • Cloud: Understand how to build cloud native applications for maximum scale and availability. Be able to build and execute a roadmap that will modernize legacy applications across a number of architectures and technologies into a cloud native end state.
  • Executive Leadership: 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a significant portion in a senior executive capacity (e.g., CTO, VP of Engineering).

Nice To Haves

  • Information Services or Financial Services Awareness: Awareness and/or hands on experiences within the Financial Services or Information Services industries.
  • Large-Scale Operations: Experience leading technology for a large-scale business or product line, ideally with revenues exceeding $500M.
  • Product-Centric Environment: Proven track record of success in a product-centric organization, with a deep understanding of the product development lifecycle.
  • AI/ML: Demonstrable experience in leveraging AI and machine learning to drive product innovation and business outcomes.
  • Engineering Culture: experience in creating a culture where high-quality code, robust architecture, and continuous improvement are valued.
  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Technology Strategy, Product, and Clients Strategic Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy that aligns with the business unit's goals and the overall company vision.
  • Innovation: Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies, particularly in AI, and identify opportunities for innovation that can provide a competitive advantage.
  • AI Native Product Roadmaps: Partner closely with product management to advance the product roadmap, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of new features and products. Drive the infusion of AI (GenAI and Machine Learning) across the product portfolio and contribute to the roadmaps for our product groups and customers.
  • Technology Roadmap: Create and maintain a clear technology roadmap that supports the product roadmap and future growth.
  • Global Platform Contribution: Collaborate with other technology leaders across the company to contribute to and leverage our global platform, ensuring consistency and efficiency.
  • Client and Partner Evangelism: Represent Cotality's technology capabilities to key strategic clients and partners, driving business growth and major vendor relationships at the executive level.
  • Culture Builder: Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, and accountability within the engineering organization.
  • Team Development: Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent. Provide mentorship and coaching to engineering leaders and individual contributors.
  • Empowerment: Delegate effectively and empower your teams to make decisions and take ownership of their work.
  • AI Native Engineering: Lead AI transformation into an AI native Software and Product development process.
  • Collaboration and Cross Team Coordination: Plan and execute across a matrix of technology and engineering teams to deliver capabilities for Mortgage as well as the Global Cotality business.
  • Application Management: Oversee the operational responsibilities of the application landscape, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and minimizing technical debt.
  • Budget and Resource Allocation: Create and manage the technology budget for Mortgage Engineering, optimizing resource allocation for maximum impact.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technology-related risks, including cybersecurity threats and regulatory compliance.
  • Vendor Management: Govern strategic vendor relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and alignment with enterprise goals.
  • Measure Performance: Measure team and application performance through a set of KPIs that manage the health and delivery of software.
