About The Position

The Executive Producer will lead the editorial vision, production, and day-to-day execution of a live morning radio show in a fast-paced, major market. This role is responsible for managing communication, expectations, and workflow for on-air talent and production staff, while ensuring the show is engaging, well-organized, and aligned with station standards across audio, video, and digital platforms.

Requirements

  • Proven experience producing a daily live radio show in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong creative instincts with the ability to generate original ideas and engage audiences
  • In-depth knowledge of radio formats, station styles, and audience demographics
  • Excellent writing, editorial judgment, and storytelling skills across platforms
  • Proficiency with recording equipment and multi-studio operations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including diplomacy, empathy, and patience
  • Ability to build rapport and effectively collaborate with talent, guests, and contributors
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing team members
  • High stress tolerance with the ability to make quick decisions in live broadcast settings
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Working knowledge of broadcast law, industry regulations, and required clearances
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and social networking platforms

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily show planning, including editorial direction, segment structure, and topical focus
  • Brainstorm, research, and develop show segments, news discussions, and interview topics
  • Generate original content ideas that extend beyond the broadcast, including digital-first and social content
  • Respond to breaking news and urgent production needs in real time
  • Make timely editorial and operational decisions to keep the show on track
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Programming Department and on-air staff to ensure alignment on goals, standards, and execution
  • Act as the primary point of contact for on-air talent, clearly communicating daily expectations, responsibilities, timing, and content priorities
  • Direct hosts, producers, presenters, content contributors, assistants, and crew to ensure smooth show flow and adherence to station standards
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to enhance performance and collaboration
  • Prepare on-air talent with relevant background information, talking points, and interview context
  • Identify, book, schedule, and brief guests to support compelling and well-organized segments
  • Oversee video and visual elements for multiplatform distribution
  • Coordinate with camera and lighting teams for live and recorded content
  • Identify, log, and flag standout moments for social media, digital platforms, and podcast use
  • Assist with timekeeping during live broadcasts to maintain pacing and structure
  • Schedule and monitor radio streams during live recordings
  • Identify, edit, and deliver daily audio for on-air promotions and imaging
  • Archive show recordings, maintain show files, and complete post-production tasks as needed
  • Operate the board for live or pre-recorded programming when required
  • Monitor listener calls, emails, texts, and social media in real time to support audience engagement and show awareness
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing on promotional strategies for the show and its talent
  • Coordinate updates and content for station digital and social platforms
  • Manage the podcast workflow, including coordination with production teams, editing, uploads, scheduling, and distribution
