About The Position

WQED Multimedia seeks a full-time Executive Producer to expand and elevate our Voice of the Arts franchise. This senior creative leader will guide WQED’s arts and culture storytelling across radio, podcasts, video, social media, and television—amplifying the diverse voices, performances, and creative energy that define southwestern Pennsylvania. Reporting to the Vice President of Programming & Distribution, the Executive Producer will shape and execute a cross-platform strategy that strengthens WQED’s position as the region’s premier arts storyteller. The ideal candidate combines creative vision with editorial rigor, production experience, and a collaborative leadership style that inspires teams and partners alike. Submissions without a portfolio or work samples will not be reviewed. This hybrid role requires a collaborative, in-person presence at least three days per week at WQED’s studios in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of senior-level experience in audio, video, or multi-platform content creation OR equivalent arts leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated excellence in storytelling and editorial judgment across formats.
  • Proven success managing creative teams and complex production workflows.
  • Strong understanding of the regional arts ecosystem and demonstrated success in relationship-building and community engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience producing for multiple platforms; familiarity with podcast or audio tools (e.g., Sequoia, Pro Tools) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead WQED’s arts and culture storytelling across all platforms, ensuring consistent creative quality and community relevance.
  • Develop and execute a unified content strategy that grows audiences and expands WQED’s impact.
  • Manage the creation of original programming from concept development through production, distribution, and promotion.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with artists, cultural institutions, and community leaders to amplify diverse voices.
  • Identify opportunities for new series, formats, and emerging talent.
  • Drive audience growth and engagement through YouTube, podcast platforms, and social media.
  • Produce select live events and performances that extend WQED’s arts storytelling beyond the studio.
  • Mentor and guide creative staff, fostering innovation and professional growth.
