The Equal Employment Practices Commission (EEPC), empowered by the New York City Charter (City Charter), is an independent, non-mayoral New York City agency charged with auditing, evaluating, and monitoring the City of New York’s (City) employment programs, practices, policies and procedures to ensure that individual entities and the City as an employer maintain a firm and effective affirmative employment program of equal opportunity for minority group members and women employed by, or seeking employment with, City government. The EEPC’s mission is to guide New York City government in its efforts to comply with federal, state, and City equal employment opportunity requirements. We achieve this by serving as a thought leader in establishing best practices for making employment decisions; producing research studies to inform employment policy; and collaborating with entities to overcome challenges in creating a fair and inclusive workplace. The EEPC is guided by the core values of fairness, equity, and integrity. The Executive Director is the agency head and chief administrator of the EEPC. As such, this position is responsible for the administration of the Commission's work plan including, but not limited to, hiring and supervising all staff, auditing the equal employment opportunity programs of city entities, conducting research studies into employment matters supporting the City’s legislative and policy initiatives; planning public meetings and hearings; developing and implementing the annual work plan; and producing various reports, as required. The EEPC does not investigate complaints of discrimination. The Executive Director is accountable to the Commission in general and the Chairperson specifically.
