What the Executive Director, Business Development does at Worldwide Clinical Trials In this position, the individual is responsible for managing Account Directors in North America and/or representing Worldwide Clinical Trials to a select group of key accounts with the primary objective of establishing long-term, mutually beneficial business relationships and partnerships. This role is directly responsible for establishing sales territories, account plans, and targets that will promote sales growth, contributing to the company’s overall goals and objectives. Additionally, it requires independent judgment, leadership, and understanding of corporate goals and policies. The Executive Director, Business Development requires a strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry.

  • BA, MS, or MBA in business or life sciences
  • Ten (10) years of experience in Clinical Research, Contract Research Organization (CRO), or similar industries
  • Promotion to the next level is not automatic based on years of experience. Personnel are evaluated on proven competency, level of responsibility, and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve North America team and individual sales objectives through proactive sales and marketing of Worldwide Clinical Trials’ services to assigned clients
  • Work with Sales Development on identifying new customers and new contact leads for potential clinical business
  • Develop and implement individual, territory, and key account strategies that are specifically geared to the growth and retention of the client base
  • Work collaboratively with internal Operations team members required to generate new business
  • Assist in the development and execution of marketing plans when required
  • Provide client benefit presentations of Worldwide Clinical Trials’ services to all key accounts and in pursuit of all new business opportunities
  • Identify specific key account needs that can potentially be developed into new Worldwide Clinical Trials services
  • Provide continuous general intelligence on all key competitors, including their services, acquisitions, and pricing
  • Provide and ensure all Account Directors make daily updates to Worldwide Clinical Trials’ Sales Force Automation Client Contact and Mailing Database (CRM)
  • Actively participate and provide account input for proposal development, pricing, and database requirements
  • Actively engage senior management in all major business presentations and discussions on Requests for Information (RFI), Master Service Agreements (MSA), and Preferred Provider Agreements (PPA)
  • Determine new approaches to problem-solving and devise solutions within the scope of responsibility
  • Act as Worldwide Clinical Trials’ client advocate and continuously challenge the company to live up to its mission and core values
  • Follow Worldwide Clinical Trials’ safety guidelines
  • Able and willing to travel throughout the assigned geographical territory and nationally
  • Requires independent judgment and understanding of corporate goals and policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management and as necessary to meet business challenges
