About The Position

Provides executive assistance and support to the General Counsel on a wide variety of current issues related to the operation of Sheriff's Department. Performs related work and duties as required.

Requirements

  • Ability to supervise and manage employees and various tasks as assigned.
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Considerable knowledge of County, City and State governments, as well as law enforcement issues as they pertain to the Sheriff's Department.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of the principles, methods and practices of criminal justice planning, including program, policy, procedure and systems development and analysis.
  • Bachelor's Degree with major in public policy or government required.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for all projects assigned by the General Counsel, including the development of work plans and timetables for the design, coordination and supervision of activities within the Sheriff’s Department.
  • Researches correctional issues and prepares reports as directed by General Counsel.
  • Advises the General Counsel on pertinent issues as they arise
  • Coordinates the General Counsel’s monthly meeting and assists with related agenda matters.
  • Represents the General Counsel’s Office at hearings, medical review panels, and labor relations meetings as required.
  • Flexibility and ability to learn and perform new duties and skills as assigned.
  • Assists the General Counsel by coordinating staff in the preparation of reports; and, ensuring that deadlines are met.
  • Performs such other duties and assignments as the General Counsel may delegate from time to time.
