About The Position

The Executive Publisher and Sr. Director of Global Communications position will manage and craft all communication strategies for ACC’s executive leadership team, including internal and external messaging, speeches, presentations, and media interactions, ensuring alignment with ACC’s overall goals and brand image. In addition to being the primary point person for all communication coming from the C-suite they will be the lead person responsible for creating and managing strategic communications campaigns and initiatives to shape ACC’s public image and connecting ACC’s expertise and resources with relevant external stakeholders and media outlets around the globe.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years hands-on experience in running communications campaigns including extensive experience in developing and editing high quality written materials including articles, Op-Eds, fact sheets press materials and other communications collateral.
  • High familiarity with common agency workflows, such as project management software, client communication protocols, and creative briefs.
  • Experience creating and implementing crisis communication plans.
  • Big picture thinker with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, while effectively maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing, editing, research, and presentation skills with the ability to quickly produce quality, engaging, and crisp documents and presentations.
  • Strong knowledge of and practical experience in communications planning and implementation, including opinion research, media engagement, message targeting, and marketing communication.
  • High levels of initiative, judgment, and decisiveness in accomplishing tasks; proven ability to work independently; good time-management skills and an eye for detail; ability to work effectively under stress and juggle multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Solid conceptual, research, and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and rapidly synthesize information from varied sources into concise conclusions and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated willingness to assist others and perform tasks necessary to help the team achieve its goals.
  • Ability to deal sensitively in a multi-cultural environment and build effective working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Interest in international in-house legal and business issues and an understanding of how communications can assist key audiences in meeting challenges.
  • Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Fluency in English is required, and a second language is preferred.

  • Agency, Hill, or advocacy experience highly recommended with proven track record of managing a fast-paced, client-focused environment, highlighting skills of adaptability, multitasking, and strong communication, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated communications plans to build brand awareness, increase the visibility of the association and its membership, and support the strategic positioning of its products, programs, and services across all channels.
  • Draft speeches, presentations, thought leadership articles, and other communication materials for executives for internal and external events.
  • Manage executive interviews, press releases, and media inquiries related to the leadership team.
  • In coordination with ACC’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC), develop strategies and programs to mitigate risks and ensure accurate communications with members, media, and stakeholders.
  • During critical situations, manage and implement ACC’s crisis communications plan in coordination with OGC.
  • Cultivate and maintain a strong public image for executive leaders, ACC global board members, chapter leaders, and the organization as a whole.
  • Proactive and reactive media relations: Work closely with ACC C-Suite executives to identify target media outlets (legal and business), journalists, and relevant news angles, media statements, press releases, and offer exclusive ACC data, expert commentary, or impactful stories that are aligned with their reporting focus or current news cycle.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, ACC members, and other strategic partners to ensure that ACC’s content/stories can be disseminated through key legal and business media outlets in a timely manner.
  • Engage with non-traditional broadcast media like streaming services, social media platforms, and podcasts.
  • Effectively manage tools to track and monitor relevant ACC media coverage (including social media), and public sentiment, providing timely and reliable analysis to management.
  • Collaborate with other departments and provide communications assistance to support the achievement of membership and event registration goals and increase engagement with ACC resources.
  • Collaborate with the advocacy team and provide communications support to further the impact of their efforts.
  • Develop and maintain an annual communications plan along with goals and timelines, and track results.
  • Manage the Communications department budget and vendor contracts.
