About The Position

Davidson Charter Academy is seeking a Full-Time Exceptional Children’s (EC) Teacher Assistant to join our team! We are looking for a caring, patient, and dedicated individual who is passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs. The EC Teacher Assistant will work closely with the EC teacher and classroom teachers to provide targeted academic, behavioral, and functional support. The ideal candidate is flexible, dependable, and knowledgeable about special education practices and effective strategies for supporting students with disabilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of experience in an educational or childcare setting required.
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional support to students with IEPs in both inclusive and pull-out settings.
  • Support individual students or small groups with targeted instruction, remediation, accommodations, or modifications.
  • Assist the EC teacher in preparing, organizing, and adapting instructional materials based on student needs.
  • Ensure students have access to necessary tools, resources, and accommodations throughout the school day.
  • Monitor and document student progress toward academic, behavioral, and IEP goals.
  • Assist with behavior support plans and implement strategies consistently.
  • Maintain accurate records and support compliance with IEP requirements as directed.
  • Collaborate daily with the EC teacher, classroom teachers, and support staff to meet student needs.
  • Supervise students during transitions, in classrooms, and throughout the school environment to ensure safety.
  • Uphold and enforce school policies, expectations, and safety procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support students, the EC program, and the school community.

  • Compensation: $16 per hour
  • Additional 3% supplement (paid in December and June)
