About The Position

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented 2nd Shift Supervisor to oversee our janitorial cleaning services at client sites in the Phenix City, AL area. The ideal candidate will manage evening cleaning operations, supervise staff during the 2nd shift, ensure quality control, maintain equipment and supplies, and uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the facility. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively while maintaining client satisfaction. Starting Pay: $15 per hour (based on experience; potential for increases with performance).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in facilities management, janitorial services, or related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in janitorial or facilities management, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role (experience in evening/2nd shift preferred).
  • Proven experience in managing cleaning teams, and knowledge of cleaning products, techniques, and equipment.
  • Experience with inventory management and ordering supplies.
  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Ability to handle complaints and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in using cleaning equipment and understanding cleaning chemicals and their proper use.
  • Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to stand, bend, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including indoor and outdoor areas (evening hours may include lower lighting or quieter settings).

Responsibilities

  • Supervision & Team Management:
  • Lead and supervise a team of cleaning staff during 2nd shift hours, ensuring adherence to schedules and company policies.
  • Conduct inspections during and at the end of shifts to ensure work is completed to standard and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Provide on-the-job training and development for staff to improve performance and quality.
  • Schedule and assign tasks for cleaning staff based on operational needs for evening coverage.
  • Foster a positive and cooperative team environment.
  • Quality Control & Standards:
  • Monitor and enforce cleaning procedures to ensure a high level of cleanliness and sanitation across the site during 2nd shift operations.
  • Perform regular inspections and audits of the facility to ensure cleanliness standards are met before shift end.
  • Address customer feedback and complaints related to cleaning services, ensuring prompt resolution (may involve coordination with daytime contacts).
  • Maintain records of site performance and quality assurance.
  • Inventory & Equipment Management:
  • Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are stocked, organized, and well-maintained for evening use.
  • Order cleaning materials and supplies as necessary, staying within budget.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment, ensuring they are in working order and handle minor repairs if needed.
  • Ensure proper disposal of waste and recycling according to health and safety guidelines.
  • Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure cleaning staff follow safety protocols during 2nd shift.
  • Provide safety training and ensure all cleaning staff are equipped with the proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report and document accidents, safety violations, and hazards on-site.
  • Client Communication:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding janitorial services during or following 2nd shift (may include end-of-shift reports or next-day follow-up).
  • Address client concerns, inquiries, and special requests promptly and professionally.
  • Prepare and present regular performance reports to clients or management, outlining cleaning schedules, tasks completed, and any issues.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain detailed records of staff attendance, timekeeping, and other necessary reports for the shift.
  • Ensure that all cleaning contracts and schedules are being met on time and within budget.
  • Manage staff schedules, timekeeping for 2nd shift team, and resolve any payroll discrepancies.
