About The Position

The Eviction Prevention Specialist is responsible for administering financial assistance and supportive services to individuals and families at risk of losing housing. This role works directly with community members to assess needs, determine eligibility, and coordinate rental, utility, and emergency assistance in alignment with program guidelines and available funding. Through a person-centered and solutions-focused approach, the Eviction Prevention Specialist partners with Workforce Development and community resources to ensure assistance leads to long-term housing stability. This position plays a critical role in preventing homelessness, promoting self-sufficiency, and ensuring responsible stewardship of Goodwill’s financial assistance funds.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in housing services, eviction prevention, case management, or related field
  • Knowledge of landlord-tenant laws, eviction processes, and community resources preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Strong understanding of housing instability and barriers to self-sufficiency
  • Ability to assess financial and household sustainability with sound judgment
  • Knowledge of rental assistance, utility assistance, and eviction prevention strategies
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and funding sources simultaneously
  • Proficiency in data systems (CaseWorthy, HMIS/Clarity preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake, assessment, and eligibility determination for housing assistance requests
  • Administer financial assistance (rent, utilities, arrearages, and emergency needs) in alignment with program guidelines and budget constraints
  • Develop stabilization plans in partnership with participants, ensuring a path toward sustainability
  • Collaborate with Workforce Development staff to connect individuals to employment and income opportunities
  • Communicate and negotiate with landlords and utility providers to prevent eviction or service disruption
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in CaseWorthy and/or HMIS systems
  • Monitor funding allocations to ensure responsible and equitable distribution of resources
  • Educate participants on tenant rights, financial literacy, and housing stability strategies
  • Ensure compliance with all program policies, procedures, and funding requirements
  • Track outcomes and contribute to program reporting, including KPIs related to housing stability and service utilization
  • Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and cross-department collaboration
  • Assist in outreach efforts to community partners, landlords, and referral sources
  • Support program audits, monitoring, and reporting requirements
  • Attend training on housing laws, financial assistance programs, and best practices
  • Provide input on program improvements, policies, and sustainability strategies
