About The Position

This system engineer role is responsible for both the health and maintenance of production systems and their operation during events. The successful candidate will have a strong background in onsite production support, capable of designing, programming, and operating live corporate events. This involves demonstrating deep systems knowledge, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain calm and focused in a production environment, with a constant drive to improve customer experience. As a systems engineer, the role includes managing large production overhaul and maintenance projects, troubleshooting systemic problems, evaluating risks for optimal solutions, and proactively implementing efficiencies to prevent issues. The engineer must have strong technical problem-solving skills, a deep understanding of systems to quickly identify root causes, and ensure production stability with systematic backup systems. The role is directly responsible for the health and success of all production equipment within the venue and for ensuring the success of each event. Daily tasks include maintaining a weekly schedule of standard maintenance, collaborating with onsite event coordinators and producers for event planning and execution, coordinating additional staffing with third-party vendors, and communicating regularly with team members to stay updated on overall team status.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • Experience or knowledge in live events or equivalent audio visual fields
  • Strong background in onsite production support, being able to design, program and operate live corporate events
  • Diverse background as a live production engineer demonstrating deep systems knowledge, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to keep calm, focused and confident in a production environment
  • Impeccable focus and drive to constantly improve the customer experience
  • Strong background in technical problem solving skills
  • Deep understanding of systems to quickly identify root cause and offer efficient solutions to maintain production stability

Responsibilities

  • Promptly, thoroughly, professionally communicate with team, customers, and business partners.
  • Proactively engage with production team to pursue process improvements.
  • Search out opportunities to help others improve skillsets and knowledge base.
  • Contribute as a subject matter expert in the field of audio/visual production.
  • Design, program and operate live events with autonomy, taking the customers’ ideas and delivering a technical solution.
  • Ensure industry best practices are followed with a safety first mindset.
  • Event setup and technical coordination of assigned systems (Pre-event).
  • Recommend technical resource scheduling for equipment and labor script (Pre-event).
  • Thorough testing of equipment use cases ahead of event (Pre-event).
  • Clear communication with all team members (Pre-event).
  • Operational technical services for assigned events (Event execution).
  • Optimizing systems for the best quality attainable (Event execution).
  • Technical leadership of vendor engineers when required (Event execution).
  • Dynamically flex to client needs and changes (Event execution).
  • Assist with strike of event space(s), ensuring correct equipment handling and storage (Post-event).
  • Participate in post-event feedback discussions/surveys (Post-event).
  • Manage large production overhaul and maintenance projects, both planned and unplanned.
  • Evaluate the risks with efficiency to properly gauge the optimum solution and act on what can be solved immediately and determine what solutions need to be taken to management.
  • Support operational engineers when systemic problems arise.
  • Proactively implement invention and efficiency to solve problems before they occur.
  • Quickly identify root cause and offer efficient solutions to maintain production stability.
  • Keep a weekly schedule of standard maintenance.
  • Work with the onsite event coordinators and producers to plan for and execute the events.
  • Coordinate additional staffing with third party vendors.
  • Communicate regularly with the rest of the team members to stay connected to the overall team status.
