Ski perks (vary based on employment status) may include Deer Valley season pass, free skiing or riding at other Alterra Resorts and select local Utah resorts Friends and family ski discounts, free staff ski lessons and discounted rentals (winter staff only) Subsidized meals at Employee Dining Rooms offered for staff while on shift Subsidized housing options available for seasonal full-time staff Discounts for staff members at restaurants, shops, and service providers in Park City Healthcare options are available for staff members 401k plan with company match PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Events & Programming Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and execution of all public, guest-facing events at the resort. This role leads the resort’s event portfolio from concept through execution, ensuring operational excellence and high-level guest experience goals. The Events & Programming Manager oversees the Events Coordinator and collaborates cross-functionally to deliver high-quality, profitable events while actively supporting efforts to expand event opportunities to the resort.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Proven experience planning and executing large-scale, public-facing events
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners
  • Comfortable engaging professionally with potential clients and external organizers
  • Flexible schedule with availability to support events during non-traditional hours

Nice To Haves

  • Intermediate skiing ability preferred, as on-mountain travel may be required

Responsibilities

  • Event Strategy & Planning Own the vision, strategy, and annual planning for all public-facing resort events, including signature events, festivals, concerts, athletic events, and community activations Evaluate and prioritize event opportunities based on guest experience, brand alignment, operational feasibility, and financial performance Develop event concepts, scopes, timelines, and high-level budgets in collaboration with internal stakeholders Ensure all events align with resort brand standards and enhance the overall guest experience
  • Event Execution & Operations Lead the end-to-end execution of public events, ensuring seamless coordination across departments such as Marketing, Food & Beverage, Banquets, Mountain Operations, Guest Services, and Public Safety Oversee permitting, city coordination, compliance requirements, and risk management related to public events Serve as the primary point of accountability for on-site execution and overall event performance Conduct post-event recaps and evaluations, applying insights to continuously improve future events
  • Team Leadership & Coordination Directly manage and mentor the Events Coordinator, providing guidance on planning, execution, and professional development Delegate responsibilities appropriately to ensure efficient workload management and strong on-site support Foster clear communication, collaboration, and accountability within the events function
  • Business Development & Event Growth Engage in proactive selling and relationship-building efforts to attract new public events, third-party events, and expanded programming to the resort Collaborate with internal teams to respond to inbound event inquiries and evaluate new event proposals Support site tours, presentations, and conversations with potential event organizers or clients as needed Identify opportunities to grow existing events or introduce new event concepts that drive visitation, revenue, and brand exposure
  • Communication & Collaboration Act as the central point of coordination for event-related communication Partner with Marketing to align event messaging, promotion timelines, and on-site guest experience elements Provide clear updates, documentation, and planning materials to ensure internal alignment and execution readiness
  • Additional Responsibilities Support other event-related initiatives and projects as assigned Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required based on the event calendar
