About The Position

As an Events Impact Evaluation Intern you will contribute directly to the work of the Education and Events Team by supporting measurement and evaluation of impact and effectiveness of USGBC's events and education programs in alignment of organization strategic priorities and mission. This work will help USGBC better understand the effectiveness of its programs and improve how we deliver education and events to advance a more sustainable built environment. You will report to Ishrat Momin, Project Manager and collaborate with teams across the organization. During this internship, you will focus on the following problem, opportunity, or research question: How can USGBC improve event data visibility, reporting consistency, and operational efficiency through standardized dashboards and data systemsin order tostrengthen its ability to measure anddemonstratethe impact and effectiveness of its events and education programs and support data-informed decision-making across the Education & Events portfolio? Sub-questions may include: What eventKPIs shouldbe consistently tracked across all USGBC events? How can event data from Cvent and Salesforce support automated dashboards and reporting? What event processes can be standardized to improve scalability and reduce staff time on event delivery? How canemergingtools such as AI improve efficiency in event workflows and reporting? What trends and patterns in event data can provide insights into program performance and participant engagement? How do USGBC events and education programs create measurable value for participants and stakeholders? This work will support building a data-driven culture, strengthening impact measurement practices, and advancing digital maturity of products, services, and systems and help inform future decisions, policies, or improvements. You will also: Gainhands-on experience working on meaningful initiatives Develop professional, communication and technical skills Gain hands-on experience working with enterprise technology platforms like Cvent, Salesforce, and Power BI Contribute to projects that directly improve organizationalefficiencyand data-driven decision making Partner with experienced professionals across teams Lead a defined project with measurable outcomes Expected Outcomes By the end of the internship, you are expected to deliver: Event Data Deliverables At least2 reusable event dashboards or reporting tools(e.g., registration trends, attendance performance, portfolio reporting), designed to support ongoing reporting and data-informed decision-making across the Education & Events portfolio Adraft event impact measurement framework or indicator setto support consistent evaluation of USGBC events and education programs Process & Systems Deliverables 3–5 process documents, templates, or SOPssupporting scalable and replicable event delivery Documentation supportingconsistent event data collection, data workflows, and reporting processes Analysis Deliverables Structured datasets and validated event datasupporting dashboards and reporting accuracy Ashort analysis reportidentifyingtrends, insights, and opportunities for improving event performance, impact measurement, or reporting efficiency A summary of recommended improvements to event reporting and impact measurement practices Final presentationfor the Intern Showcasedemonstratingdashboards, key findings, and recommendations for improving event reporting and impact measurement

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed undergraduate or graduate degree in Public Policy or Public Administration, Economics, Data Analytics or Business Analytics, Statistics or Applied Mathematics, Information Systems or Information Management, Business Administration, Environmental Studies or Sustainability, Urban Planning, Social Sciences (e.g., Sociology, Political Science, Geography) or a related field with strong quantitative or analytical coursework.
  • Familiarity with: Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Power BI or other data visualization tools
  • Experience with the following is a plus: Salesforce or CRM systems
  • Event management platforms such as Cvent, Eventbrite
  • Domain knowledge in the following is a plus: Green building, environmental and sustainability education, particularly related to Zero Waste Events and standards like TRUE, EIC SEPC event and professional certifications

Responsibilities

  • Analyze event reporting and operational workflows to improve data visibility, reporting efficiency, and scalable event delivery
  • Conduct research onevent attendee engagement, event data management, dashboarddesign, andscalable event operationsand summarize findings for internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate withEducation & Events, Data Governance Office, Technology, Marketing, and Membership departmentsto gather insights and coordinate deliverables
  • Analyze post-event and program effectiveness for impact and feedback
  • Support the mapping of Cvent data merger into Snowflake andPowerBItovalidatedata for the E&E Dashboard
  • Evaluate andidentifyAI-based or better workflows for scaling events
  • Apply prompt engineering techniques to improve workflows and reporting automation
  • Co-author the development of an impact report template highlightingvolunteerand scholarship programs for the annual Greenbuild conference and other USGBC-led events
  • Assistwith tasks associated with annual Greenbuild conference, international productworkshops, and other USGBC-led events
  • Track progress and document work usingSmartsheet, Excel, andPowerBI
  • Develop reports, presentations, and written materials for leadership and partners
  • Participate in team meetings, project reviews, and learning sessions
  • Support data collection, evaluation, and quality assurance activities
  • Contribute to improving internal documentation and workflows
  • Maintainaccuraterecords of weekly hours worked
  • Prepare and deliver a final project/research presentation
  • Support selected activities related to USGBC’s presence at industry expos, including promotional communications, internal event resources, and on-site or virtual engagement support as needed.
  • Support updates to internal and external training, documentation, and resource materials for USGBC events, including Greenbuild staff resources, Exhibitor Green Guidelines, and volunteer education modules.
