About The Position

The Events Bus Driver position with the City of Eden Prairie involves driving city vans and buses to safely transport participants of all ages to and from City programs and events. This is a part-time, seasonal, and temporary role, primarily running from May to August 2026, with the majority of shifts occurring in the evenings and on weekends. The driver will operate a shuttle bus on continuous routes, making frequent stops for summer events like Jazz Fest, People Fest, Summer Concert, and Theater Events. The role emphasizes ensuring safe and timely transportation, providing excellent customer service, and performing pre- and post-inspections of the bus and equipment, along with maintaining driving logs. The position reports to the Senior Center Recreation Supervisor and is located at the Senior Center, requiring driving to various parks and locations within Eden Prairie.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • At least 2 years driving experience required.
  • Evening and weekend availability required.
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull at least 50-70 lbs.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Driving during the evening hours/nighttime conditions required.
  • Successfully complete and pass the City’s evaluation of the pre-employment process prior to their first day of employment (professional reference checks, background check, driver’s license check, work verification, pre-employment physical, and drug/alcohol test).
  • Able to convey a message to get a point across; communicates in a clear and concise manner; able to write clearly and succinctly; tailors message to a variety of communication settings and styles.
  • Ability to perform and/or coordinate several activities, responsibilities, and tasks simultaneously in a polite and professional manner; prioritizes what needs to get done; keeps things neat and orderly; utilizes tools for efficiency; factors several considerations when planning; establishes methods to ensure routine tasks are completed.
  • Ability to tackle a problem by using logical, systematic, sequential approach; makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternatives; notices discrepancies and inconsistencies in available information; identifies a set of features, parameters or considerations to take into account in analyzing a situation or making a decision.

Responsibilities

  • Drive city vans and buses to safely transport participants to/from City programs and events.

  • Ensure passengers receive safe and timely transportation for special events and activities by following training and safety guidelines, protocols and procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service to ensure riders receive a welcoming and positive experience.
  • Complete pre-inspection and post-inspection of the bus and equipment and maintain driving logs.
  • Perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.
