About The Position

The Events A/V Technician supports the technical operation and internal event production for non-exhibition audio/visual experiences across all Academy facilities. This role plays a key part in ensuring the successful delivery of internal and public-facing events through the setup, operation, and maintenance of lighting, audio, and video equipment. This is a part-time, on-call position averaging approximately 20 hours per week.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion is required.
  • Access to timely and reliable transportation between Academy Campuses, often on short notice.
  • Minimum of 3 years of combined experience in theatrical lighting, technician, audio engineering, or teleconferencing support.
  • Strong knowledge of state-of-the-industry lighting, audio, live recording, and video equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate theatrical lighting and digital audio consoles.
  • Ability to resolve minor technical issues as they arise with audio, microphones, and lighting consoles.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong customer service mindset.
  • A curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and perform under pressure in fast-paced, high-volume environments.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and short-notice events.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Zoom/ Zoom Rooms is a plus.
  • Customer service experience at museums, theaters, or cultural attractions is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as on-call technical support for Academy-wide events.
  • Deploy, operate, and wrap in-house lighting, audio, and video equipment.
  • Assist with hybrid and teleconferencing meetings.
  • Support live-streaming events.
  • Test and troubleshoot A/V equipment.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols put in place to ensure a secure and healthy work environment.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director, Events A/V.
