About The Position

The Event Technician - MPAC supports the Performing Arts Center Authority (PACA) at Broward Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA) managed venue, the Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center (MPAC) through the optimal execution of all aspects of technical support, production support, and service to all customers, both internal and external, in order to ensure the successful execution of events.

Requirements

  • Ability to maintain a physical presence at designated work location, maintain regular attendance and punctuality and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to travel to alternate venues, including Broward Center for the Performing Arts, The Parker and the Rose & Aventura Arts & Cultural Center may be required.
  • Able to demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, and ethical behavior in all daily activities.
  • Able to effectively and efficiently multitask, set priorities, shift priorities, and adapt to changes in situations.
  • Able to follow direction from management and to accept constructive feedback.
  • Able to exhibit appropriate, professional, and corporate demeanor, considerable tact, and courtesy when interacting with internal and external patrons in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to crouch, lift up to 50lbs, twist, bend, stoop, climb stairs and ladder, stand and sit for extended periods of time, reach above, below at neck level, work at heights above the floor.
  • Able to work effectively and positively with others.
  • High School, High School Equivalent, or Higher: General or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Cross train in aspects of stage production and event set up to further enhance the Event Technician's utilization at MPAC.
  • Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of each facility, including painting, replacement of light bulbs in stage and non-stage areas, etc.
  • Assist with promotional elements of a production as needed. (i.e. gift bag stuffing and placement, assisting with Marketing set ups/tear downs, catering set ups/tear downs, etc.).
  • Maintain clean and safe areas at all times and will work with a clean as you go policy.
  • Communicate with supervisor any needs or suggestions to improve the implementation of assigned duties as determined during the course of performing assigned duties.
  • Communicate concerns/observations regarding the safety and proper use of all PACA and Managed Venues' equipment and the equipment from any rental house or touring production.
  • Communicate with the Technical Director/Manager/Supervisor regarding details (schedule/crew position/etc.) of each event in order to be appropriately prepared.
  • Perform non-stage related work as assigned, including, but not limited to janitorial services, facilities maintenance, parking services, Event Runner, Front of House assistance, non-stage related events, etc.
  • Assist the Technical Director, Technical Supervisor in executing production/operations/event services for each event as assigned.
  • Responsible for accurately signing in and out for each shift.
  • Develop positive working relationships with the staff to ensure effective and consistent application of PACA production guidelines at MPAC, BCPA, The Parker and Aventura Arts & Cultural Center.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
