Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of event production practices and customer service standards, including demonstrated experience in sound, lighting, video, setup, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Experience with integrated control systems, streaming, networked AV
  • Demonstrated experience in AV setup, configuration, and troubleshooting
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively and professionally with clients, staff, and colleagues
  • Experience working to support live conferences and events
  • Knowledge of proper configuration of technical equipment for successful operations
  • Skilled at communicating effectively and professionally with staff, patrons, and colleagues at all times
  • Ability to think critically and make decisions to support professional and student staff when issues arise
  • Ability to properly recruit, train, and provide on-site supervision of part-time and student wage staff
  • Ability to meet competing deadlines and prioritize responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to diagnose, repair, and/or make recommendations for repair/replacement of all Mason Square technical equipment
  • Must be able to safely and independently move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in a related field
  • Working knowledge of Crestron, Allen & Heath consoles, Shure microphones, sound consoles, Chauvet LED and moving lights, and Blackmagic Design video systems
  • Certified Technology Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high-quality production services in support of events by overseeing the execution of transportation, setup, operation, and breakdown of portable technical and non-technical equipment as requested
  • Leads run of show A/V execution, ensuring balanced sound delivery, projection, seamless streaming, and recording
  • Serves as the primary supervisor and/or technician onsite for high-profile and major events, providing on-site coordination with clients and presenters
  • Responds with appropriate urgency, flexibility, courtesy, and good judgment to meet customer needs and resolve both technical and non-technical issues
  • Provides prompt and responsive evaluation of issues that may arise, evaluates the potential impact to service execution, and communicates a strategy for resolution of the issue in an effective and timely manner
  • Works with Event Managers to advise clients on A/V capabilities and options to support events.
  • Ensures functionality, maintenance, and preventative care of production resources, both technical and non-technical, through the implementation and oversight of preventative maintenance efforts independently and in conjunction with ITS
  • Working with the Event and Production Manager, create an ongoing master plan for equipment (technical and non-technical) upgrades and replacement schedules
  • Oversees the organization and oversight of production inventory and resources; coordinating inventory needs with the Event and Senior Event and Production Managers
  • Maintains a database of equipment that tracks the history of usage and repairs/maintenance
  • Ensures efficient usage of storage space and resources that emphasize organization, safety, and resourcefulness
  • Serves as the primary point of onsite contact with outside contractors/vendors to troubleshoot equipment issues or to perform services and repairs when necessary
  • Oversees the implementation of a barcoding/tracking system that records the movement and storage of all equipment to ensure accurate delivery of services and proper stewardship of resources.
  • Manages on-site support staff, providing direction and guidance, during events
  • Assists with the development and facilitation of training on proper transportation, storage, setup, and operation of equipment and effective implementation of event support and customer service
  • Provides input on the development of clear and concise operation guides and resources to aid in the training of Production support staff for supplemental and ongoing reference
  • Assists with support staff scheduling to ensure adequate support for both equipment and staffing for concurrent events held at Mason Square
  • Supports team members through mentorship, coaching, and constructive feedback
  • Reviews and approves time sheets for student wage support staff.
  • Serves as liaison with the central University Event Production team
  • Attends trainings as appropriate; Utilizes University approved calendaring system
  • Attends and contributes to regular events and team meetings
  • Attends campus meetings and serves on university committees as a representative of Mason Square
  • Serves as a liaison with the central University Events Production team
  • Identifies and communicates supply needs to departmental purchaser
  • Works closely with events production teams across the university to evaluate best practices.
