About The Position

Destination Geneva National is a sprawling semi-private lakeshore golf resort known for being Hospitable, Memorable, and Legendary. The resort hosts weddings, corporate events, fundraisers, and member functions. The Event Manager or Senior Event Manager position involves connecting with clients and members to deliver tailored and elevated experiences based on their vision and preferences. The specific level (Event Manager or Senior Event Manager) will be determined by the candidate's experience, leadership background, and demonstrated event portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, event management, or related field — or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in event management, preferably within a resort, hotel, private club, or high-end venue environment.
  • Strong organizational, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and solve problems in real time.
  • Understanding of and respect for the collaborative relationship with catering/banquets kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in event management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience developing event concepts and proposals, coordinating vendors and suppliers, managing budgets and logistics, and ensuring high-quality execution.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Five or more years of progressive event management experience (for Senior Event Manager Consideration).
  • Demonstrated success managing complex or high-profile events (for Senior Event Manager Consideration).
  • Experience mentoring team members or providing leadership within an events team (for Senior Event Manager Consideration).
  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth and enhance client retention (for Senior Event Manager Consideration).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute weddings, corporate events, and member functions from initial consultation to event completion.
  • Oversee the entire event planning process, including client meetings, vendor coordination, timelines, and event logistics.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and addressing client needs promptly.
  • Work closely with the resort’s banquets, marketing, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution of all events.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and cost efficiency.
  • Manage budgets for each event, ensuring profitability while maintaining high service standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the planning or execution phases.
  • Upsell clients on food & beverage packages, furnishings, and décor, as directed.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal regulations for all events.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and continually seek ways to enhance the event experience at Destination GN.
  • Lead high-revenue, large-scale, or multi-day events requiring advanced logistical coordination (Senior Event Manager Level).
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives to increase event bookings and maximize revenue (Senior Event Manager Level).
  • Mentor and support junior event team members (Senior Event Manager Level).
  • Assist in refining event processes, pricing strategies, and service standards (Senior Event Manager Level).
  • Develop strong referral networks and cultivate repeat business opportunities (Senior Event Manager Level).
