About The Position

Kona Kai San Diego Resort is a boutique urban resort located on Shelter Island. With 170 guestrooms, Kona Kai Resort is home to Vessel Restaurant + Bar, SpaTerre, a marina and a private club, all located just minutes from downtown San Diego. We are currently seeking an individual who wants to be part of the Kona Kai culture and serve with a purpose. The Events Manager serves as a dedicated point of contact for couples and wedding planners, ensuring a seamless and stress-free planning experience from initial coordination through event execution. This role involves collaborating with vendors, managing event logistics, and providing personalized guidance to bring each couple’s vision to life. The Event Manager is responsible for developing timelines, coordinating details across departments, and maintaining clear, consistent communication to ensure every aspect of the wedding is executed flawlessly. With a strong focus on organization, service excellence, and attention to detail, the Event Manager helps create a memorable and exceptional experience for both the couple and their guests. While weddings will represent approximately 80% of the role, the remaining 20% will focus on servicing corporate/association group events. This includes managing event details, coordinating with internal teams, and ensuring successful execution that meets client expectations and upholds the property’s service standards. Requirements

  • To be successful in this position, we're looking for an amazing people connector, who thrives on creating experiences and problem solving, you:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a minimum of two years of experience in hotel sales or a related field
  • Experience in hotel sales, hospitality, or a related industry strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Read, write and speak English fluently
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other colleagues
  • Impeccable work ethic and excellent organizational, time management, communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with CRM and sales systems; Delphi experience a plus
  • Able to work independently and follow directives from leadership
  • Ability to plan, organize, and execute conferences, corporate meetings, and special events
  • Demonstrated success in sales performance and client relationship development

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with event planning, wedding vendors and venues, is a plus
  • Knowledge of wedding trends, etiquette and traditions
