This specific opportunity is for a Part-time Pot Washer within the Dining and Nutrition Services department. The role primarily involves washing, rinsing, sanitizing, and air drying various kitchen items like pots, pans, cooking utensils, and cutting boards according to department procedures. It also includes maintaining the cleanliness of the pot storage room, work area, and kitchen floor, as well as disposing of trash and garbage. In emergencies, the Pot Washer may assist with food truck deliveries.

Requirements

  • High School education.
  • Demonstrates compliance with the CH ASPIRE Standards of Performance.
  • Must be able to see and hear, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must function independently, have flexibility and personal integrity.
  • Must demonstrate emotional stability and be able to relate to the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility including residents, family members, personnel, visitors, etc.
  • Must be able to speak and write English in a legible and understandable manner.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
  • Must have the ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Washing, rinsing, sanitizing, and air drying pots, pans, cooking utensils, cutting boards and other items according to department procedure and work flow sheets.
  • Soaking (when necessary) and scraping pans to loosen cooked on debris.
  • Cleaning stationary cooking equipment when requested by cooks.
  • Maintaining a clean pot storage room including shelves, walls, and floor.
  • Properly storing clean pots and pans (dry and in an inverted position).
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of work area including racks, sinks, tile around pot area, etc.
  • Emptying and refilling pot sinks at least every 30 minutes, or more frequently if needed.
  • Disposing of trash and garbage from kitchen as needed and cleaning the trash containers.
  • Sweeping and mopping kitchen floor.
  • Assisting with delivery of food trucks to/from various wings in an emergency.
  • Consistently preparing and using the three (3) sink method of pot washing (wash, rinse, sanitize) according to department policy.
  • Effectively cleaning all cooking equipment, brazier, kettles, grill, as requested throughout production, and at the end of the day.
  • Completely air-drying all items before storing.
  • Storing all items inverted in proper location.
  • Soaking, scraping, washing, rinsing, and sanitizing pots, pans cutting boards, utensils and other kitchen smallwares; resulting in a clean and sanitized product.
  • Frequently emptying kitchen garbage cans and replacing liner.
  • Cleaning garbage cans daily.
  • Thoroughly sweeping and mopping kitchen floor according to work flow.
  • Leaving floor completely clean and free of food residue.
  • Properly utilizing test strips to test strength of sanitizing solution.
  • Notifying management if mixture does not meet standard.
  • Constantly maintaining clean and orderly work and storage areas.
  • Periodically during the week, assisting in maintaining the cleaning the dish wash machine.
  • Keeping janitor's closet clean and neat.
