About The Position

Yuba College seeks a strong, well-rounded, equity-minded Ethnic Studies educator. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience or potential to be an excellent instructor at a community college, and can provide leadership or contribute positively in areas such as: development of the Ethnic Studies program and curriculum; keeping course offerings up-to date and relevant; staying abreast of and communicating the current tr ends in Ethnic Studies education; and collaborating with area high schools . The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds through effective communication and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and ability to understand the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Sensitivity to the needs, problems, and challenges associated with the diversity of the community college student population.
  • The successful candidate, by the final filing date, must possess the minimum qualifications for instructors in Ethnic Studies at California Community Colleges.
  • Master’s in African-American/Black/Africana Studies or Latino Studies, La Raza Studies, Chicana/a Studies, or Asian-American Studies, or Native American/ American Indian Studies OR Master’s in Ethnic Studies OR OR the equivalent. (Must apply through YCCD’s Equivalency Application Process)
  • EQUIVALENCY REQUIREMENT : All applicants are required to meet the minimum qualifications specified by the Yuba Community College District ( YCCD ) by the application filing date.
  • Alternatively, applicants must have obtained an equivalency determination from the District before the publication of the Recruitment Announcement.
