About The Position

This position is responsible for estimating the costs of HVAC and ductwork components. In partnership with management, this role negotiates future work and prepares construction bids with quick deadlines. The ideal candidate has prior experience in estimating for the HVAC commercial industry and possesses the ability to interpret concepts into accurate, profitable bids.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in construction management, engineering technology, or equivalent field with 5+ years estimating for the HVAC industry and/or the equivalent education and experience. Experience in commercial construction is required.
  • Strong computer skills with familiarity using estimating software and background in blueprint reading required.
  • Must be well organized, detailed focused, able to prioritize, multitask, and execute tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure; able to handle considerable stress.
  • Ability to take a conceptual plan and create a detailed budget.
  • Able to travel to job sites for site walk throughs, as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license required with insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating accurate and profitable bids for HVAC commercial restaurant construction jobs using sheet metal or mechanical system knowledge.
  • Ensure bids are accurate and complete, including an accurate and comprehensive estimate of materials, equipment, and labor necessary for the construction project.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple bidding assignments simultaneously, while reprioritizing work as needed, communicating progress, and ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Prepare quotes by gathering information, evaluating conceptual plans, applying HVAC knowledge to bid package, and communicating proactively with general contractors where further details are needed to meet deadlines.
  • Use blueprints to prepare a complete list of all job costs, including labor, material, equipment, and specialty items necessary to complete the project.
  • Negotiate with general contractors, vendors, or customers on behalf of the organization to secure work. Specifically, obtain bids from vendors and suppliers by specifying materials and then negotiating prices.
  • Promote and maintain strong partnerships with our customers and trade relationships.
  • Analyze, compare, and interpret information from contract documents and bid specifications to complete proposals.
  • Maintain and update master material information in the software database.
  • Adjust priorities, manage interruptions, and work efficiently and independently. Communicate conflicts to management promptly so deadlines are met.
