About The Position

The Estimator is responsible for developing comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for assigned projects. This includes reviewing bid documents and specifications, performing detailed quantity of take-offs, and evaluating material, labor, and equipment needs to prepare precise bid proposals. The Estimator understands project management and demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, motivation, and a results‑driven mindset.

Requirements

  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and FAA/DOT documents (for airfield work).
  • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam).
  • Ability to perform accurate quantity of take-offs for materials, equipment, and labor.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite—especially Excel—for cost analysis and bid preparation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to include presenting projects to a team or participating in a collaborative review
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to assess risk and value‑engineer solutions.
  • Self‑motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • 10-year criminal background search.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior project management experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circulars and airfield pavement/marking specifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review newly posted projects for bidding and assess suitability for proposal submission.
  • Obtain pricing from material suppliers and secure competitive bids from subcontractors.
  • Generate and develop bids and leads through electronic platforms, bid portals, and printed sources.
  • Perform accurate quantity take-offs from construction blueprints and project documents.
  • Conduct job site inspections when necessary to support estimate accuracy and scope of clarification.
  • Organize and prepare complete pre-bid packages, including plans, specifications, addenda, and required documentation.
  • Review bid specifications, drawings, and scope requirements to prepare comprehensive bid proposals.
  • Attend bid openings, pre-bid meetings, and coordination sessions as needed.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with vendors, clients, engineers, architects, and owners to support accurate pricing and future opportunities.
  • Communicate all relevant bid information, scope of details, and cost considerations to the Project Manager and internal teams.
