Job Description: The Estimator is responsible for utilizing residential blueprints to complete load calculations, duct designs and material takeoffs to determine labor and material required to complete HVAC installations for residential new construction homes. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Interprets blueprints and CAD drawings to create HVAC load calculations and designs. Estimates the amount of materials and cost of labor to complete the installation of HVAC systems in new residential homes. Communicates with other estimators, lead estimators, managers, and sales staff. Returns all necessary information back to the assigned division in a timely manner to continue with the bid process. Communicates all internal issues or questions to the Lead Estimator or Estimating Manager. Ability to forecast the needs of materials per each blueprint. Follows all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety. Ongoing training to provide better support to the rest of the team. Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or GED. Ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints. Ability to learn new software efficiently. General computer competency is required. Must be able to communicate in English effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work overtime with little notice; weekends hours may occasionally be required. Preferred Qualifications: Associate degree or higher. Possess basic CAD skills Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent attention to detail, ability to analyze information, and ability to multi-task. Customer service mindset. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to work in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn as a self-starter. Relevant work experience may be substituted for education. Ability to build positive relationships with customers, both internal and external. Willingness and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization. Working Conditions: Onsite, open office environment. Fast-paced, deadline motivated environment. Physical Requirements: Must be able to adhere to long periods of standing or sitting. Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds to operate phones or other office equipment safely. With natural or corrected vision, able to see and focus for close, distance, peripheral vision with normal depth perception. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to others.
