About The Position

Watson Building Group, LLC (WBG) is a vertical construction company specializing in ground-up commercial, high rise and industrial building projects, including hotels and other concrete-intensive structures. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to support our growing portfolio of construction projects. Position Summary The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for ground-up vertical construction projects. This role supports the preconstruction and operations teams by analyzing plans, specifications, and project requirements to develop detailed budgets, subcontractor scopes, and pricing strategies. The Estimator will work closely with project managers, superintendents, and leadership to ensure successful project pursuits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 4 + years of estimating experience in vertical commercial construction preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ground-up construction and concrete-intensive projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for ground-up building projects.
  • Analyze architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications.
  • Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Develop and maintain accurate project budgets and estimate summaries.
  • Assist with value engineering, constructability reviews, and cost-saving recommendations.
  • Coordinate with project managers and superintendents to ensure estimates reflect current means and methods.
  • Maintain organized estimate files, takeoffs, and supporting documentation.
  • Track and analyze historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Assist with preparation of proposals, bid packages, and scope narratives.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and internal bid reviews as required.
  • Support project handoff from preconstruction to operations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
