About The Position

Job Summary: The Estimator – Remanufacturing is responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and data-driven cost estimates for wind turbine component remanufacturing projects. This role supports multiple locations and service lines for field-to-shop remanufacturing transitions. Job Responsibilities: Estimating & Cost Analysis Review proposals, technical specifications, scope documents, and customer requirements to prepare detailed cost estimates. Partner with Shop Managers and Operations Leaders to determine labor hours, shop flow requirements, and resource allocation. Analyze labor, materials, tooling, overhead, and schedule impacts to build comprehensive estimates. Utilize P&L data and historical job performance metrics to validate pricing assumptions and margin targets. Develop cost models specific to remanufacturing workflows (tear-down, inspection, repair, rebuild, QA, packaging). Vendor Coordination Solicit and evaluate quotes from vendors. Align vendor payment terms, warranty coverage, and service conditions with proposal terms. Negotiate pricing, quality standards, and volume agreements with suppliers. Maintain and update a market pricing database to support competitive strategy. Forecasting & Reporting Prepare job forecasts by analyzing pipeline trends, win/loss data, labor demand, and material cost fluctuations. Present weekly forecasting and pricing insights to leadership. Track outstanding bids and conduct post-bid reviews (including lost bid analysis) to refine pricing strategies. Support capacity planning in coordination with shop operations and scheduling. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Accounting on margin validation and cost controls. Support Sales and Business Development in proposal strategy and pricing structure. Assist Senior Management in developing long-term remanufacturing growth strategies. Collaborate with Inventory and Purchasing teams to ensure pricing accuracy and material availability. Maintain working knowledge of wind industry standards, OEM requirements, and regulatory considerations. Continuous Improvement Analyze estimate-to-actual variances and recommend process improvements. Identify opportunities to standardize estimating tools, templates, and labor benchmarks. Contribute to scalable pricing models as remanufacturing volume increases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in: Business or Industrial Engineering preferred
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of estimating, project costing, or operations analysis experience preferred.
  • Experience in wind energy, heavy equipment repair, industrial manufacturing, or remanufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of the full quote-to-sales-to-scheduling lifecycle.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of component rebuild processes.
  • Analytical thinker capable of resolving complex costing challenges.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, cost modeling), Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interface across operations, sales, and finance.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple concurrent bids.
  • Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Adaptable and open to operational change.

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems preferred.
