Shaw Industries is looking for an Estimator & Planner for our Custom Design Studio, to provide the field sales person, client, project designer, and carpet installer with the information, documents and carpet installation/Seaming plans necessary to correctly order and install hospitality and commercial carpets for a project. This role requires a minimum of 3 days a week in the Cartersville, GA office.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 1+ years of proven estimating/planning experience required
  • Minimum of 3 days a week in the Cartersville, GA office required
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural floor plans and specifications required
  • Strong mathematical skills, including fractions, measurements, accurately reading and scaling architectural units required
  • Proficiency in geometric concepts needed to scale, measure, and draft professional quality plans required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365: Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, etc. required

Responsibilities

  • Correctly interpret and comprehend architectural plans to develop application designs for appropriate materials and the areas in which they will be installed. ​
  • Effectively collaborate within a cross-functional Project Management Team – consisting of a project manager, custom carpet designer, and project administrator – to plan and develop the optimal solution for a given project based on provided scope, specified material, and aesthetic requirements.
  • Produce a neat, detailed, systematic set of carpet installation/seaming diagrams, complete with flooded product images, using AutoCAD, Photoshop, and other related software.
  • Generate appropriate project specific color renderings and custom design templates to support product design layouts and orientations for clients, designers, and installers to realize a successful project outcome.
  • Calculate total material quantities (e.g., custom patterned carpets, adhesives, cushion, carpet bases, carpet tiles, LVT, seam sealer, etc.) utilizing proprietary estimating software including all relative material specifications (pattern numbers, pattern repeats, width of goods, installation locations, etc.) in a formal estimating quote format supplied to sales, clients, and internal records.
  • Create manufacturing layouts for custom hospitality and commercial carpet applications, including carpet-to-fit products, such as rugs, panels, corridor runners, borders, corners, etc.
  • Consistently log all estimating services and corresponding deliverables and file in an orderly manner ensuring all documents are securely retained and accessible for future reference.
  • Prepare custom project estimate packages for distribution, guided by Estimating Managers, by performing thorough, inclusive quality checks of services completed by Estimator/Planner peers ensuring errorless project documents.
  • Facilitate revisions and updates to project documentation in coordination with project managers, designers, sales, and clients. Ensure all revised materials are distributed appropriately and archived systematically.
  • Promptly identify, research, and troubleshoot project application concerns in collaboration with Estimating Managers, Project Managers, sales, customer service, project designers, and product installers when required.
  • Maintain proficiency with personal computer equipment, printers, plotters, and various relevant software.
  • Operate effectively across departments within the Custom Design Studio – including Design, Sample/CAD, Production, Sales, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Shaw Technical Support – to support successful project outcomes.
