As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing portions of contract proposal estimates across various disciplines such as plumbing, piping, or sheet metal systems, by determining applicable project plans and specifications. The role may involve independently estimating small to medium-sized plan/spec, design assist, or design build projects. Key functions include developing proposals and drawings to define the scope of work, estimating sizes, distances, quantities, time, costs, resources, and materials. You will analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates, calculate complete takeoffs, and review proposal specifications. The position also involves potentially reviewing design options to recommend cost-effective solutions, developing and delivering accurate project cost estimates, and assessing cost-effectiveness by comparing actual costs to bids. You will prepare regular cost and expenditure statements, set up cost monitoring systems, review material and labor requirements for optimal outcomes, and obtain quotes from subcontractors and vendors. Additionally, the role requires documenting account activities, generating reports, maintaining records of business transactions, and keeping files of working documents as backup for estimates. You will also support other department personnel, potentially preparing estimates in other disciplines, and contribute to a positive and safety-centric work culture.
