About The Position

The Estimator 1 plays a critical role in the project lifecycle by accurately assessing the costs associated with construction and development projects. This position involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and related documents to prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates. The estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and suppliers to gather necessary data and ensure estimates reflect current market conditions and resource availability. The ultimate goal is to provide reliable financial projections that support informed decision-making and successful project execution. This role serves as a foundation for career growth within the estimating and construction management fields.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Basic understanding of construction methods, materials, and terminology.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with estimating software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar tools.
  • Internship or prior experience in construction estimating or project coordination.
  • Familiarity with local building codes and regulations within the United States.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Certification or coursework related to construction estimating or project management.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to obtain necessary information for accurate estimates.
  • Research and source pricing for materials, equipment, and labor to ensure estimates are current and competitive.
  • Prepare detailed bid proposals and present findings to internal teams and clients as needed.
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation for future reference and audits.
