About The Position

The Estimating Manager provides estimating support by working with engineers, contractors, vendors and clients to provide and oversee cost estimates and updates before and during the project. The Estimating Manager maintains project analysis based on industry standard units to produce profitable estimates on project costs relative to bids throughout the project.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of relevant estimating experience.
  • Proficient skills with the MS office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
  • Experience in a construction industry environment.
  • Ability to effectively recognize and resolve conflict in early stages while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation, supervisory and project management skills.
  • Experience with job costing, general construction accounting and financial responsibility of projects.
  • Ability to multi-task and process multiple activities successfully
  • Demonstrated ability to work under deadlines and time frames effectively with a customer service demeanor.
  • Grow, lead, and develop individuals and teams – work as ateam and share knowledge.

Nice To Haves

  • Some CAD, Blue Beam Revu, SketchUp or similar preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple bids, collecting quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Oversee and approve cost estimates and approve proposed estimates for assigned projects.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Mentor estimators. Help estimators determine areas that may be ambiguous or present problems or result in unexpected costs.
  • Assure estimates are equitable based on current and projected industry standard units, with the intention to drive competitive project performance.
  • Track all costs in the construction phase to produce accurate project forecasts.
  • Communicate directly with client/contractors/designers/subcontractors utilizing a Request for Information/Quote/Proposal (RF/Q/PI) process concerning project cost, scope of work, staffing, scheduling, and change orders.
  • Collaborates with various teams to execute the project management plan; revises & documents plan via a structured change order process as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Work with vendors, personnel, and construction foremen to resolve issues relating to estimates, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • Review and oversee KPI’s and approve adjustments as needed.
  • Maintain licenses or certifications required by the position.
