Hunter Roberts has summer internship opportunities available within the NY Operations unit for individuals with a track record of academic success and a deep interest in the industry. Hunter Roberts has several Intern opportunities available in the Estimating Department. The internship will begin on June 1, 2026, and last through August 14, 2026. The hours are Monday through Friday from 8am until 5pm. At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern will make a presentation to management describing the project, related project tasks and overall learning experience. Listed below are job functions you may be asked to complete as an intern at Hunter Roberts. Intern reports to: Chief Estimator or Assigned Mentor The main responsibility of the Estimating Intern is to support and assist the Estimating staff on daily tasks and responsibilities of the department as well as special assignments. Training will be provided to perform the requested job functions.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited Undergraduate College or University with a sophomore status or junior status
  • Must be a construction management, engineering or related major
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Ability to work as a team member and to manage competing priorities in fast paced environment.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare quantity take offs with Onscreen. Take offs shall be organized and named according to the Estimating Department's Electronic File Storage Guidelines document.
  • Obtain subcontractor and vendor quotations for Bids, GMP's, and Estimates, Communications shall be courteous, professional, and done in a manner that will permit the building of a positive relationship with the other party.
  • Level subcontractor proposals for assigned trades. Leveling shall be done using the master project scope sheet template distributed by the Lead Estimator. Scope sheets shall be completed, and subcontractor quotations shall be marked up in accordance with Estimating Department's procedures.
  • Store and name all electronic documents, regardless of level of completion, according to the Estimating Department's electronic document. Maintain all working documents and data to back-up estimate figures.
  • Digitize Bid Results and Subcontractor Quotations for historical data. Digitized data shall be named and stored in accordance with the department Historical Data filing system.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
