As an Estate, Gift and Trust Specialty Tax Director, you will partner with clients and their advisors to provide innovative tax accounting services, including planning, research, and compliance related to estates, estate tax planning, trusts, gifts, generation-skipping transfers and fiduciary accountings (EGT).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • At least 10+ years of experience in public accounting or corporate/public blend setting required.
  • Prior experience and demonstrated success in identifying and pursuing outside business contacts through social, charitable and business organizations.
  • Must possess strong writing skills for responding to problem resolutions for tax notices.
  • Experience providing proper representation with taxing authorities for clients under federal or state examination.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and independently produce the required analysis of trust agreements for tax and accounting purposes, as well as gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer planning.
  • Ensure maximum tax benefit is applied by looking at the tax situation of the individual, their trusts, and their estate from various angles.
  • Work with clients to create wealth transition plans based on cash flow projections, distribution of income, business succession, estate preservation and estate plan flow.
  • Interpret and review various legal documents in relation to estate and business succession planning; perform technical research related to estate, gift and trust.
  • Manage client relationships by proactively seeking solutions that add value to the client experience.
  • Supporting business development efforts by identifying prospective clients, preparing proposals and engagement materials, conducting industry research, and representing the firm at networking events and industry functions.
  • Work closely with Partners, Senior Managers and staff on client management, professional development and business development activities.
  • Manage and drive the success of multiple estate and trust administrations from a tax and accounting standpoint, i.e., year of death and period of administration, to ultimate disposition, including final individual income tax compliance, pre- and post mortem planning, estate and trust dispositions, and all related tax and compliance issues.
  • Review staff work product and ensure firm processes and quality control procedures are being executed.
  • Review all estate, gift, and complex trust tax returns by required deadlines.
  • Assist partners with preparation of engagement budgets, client billing and staff performance reviews.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and presentations.
  • Develop team's technical and industry skills and mentor career growth.
  • Pursue professional development through public speaking opportunities, seminar delivery, and through the writing of articles.
