About The Position

The Estate Gardening Manager is a hands-on leadership role dedicated to the stewardship of residential estate clients. You will serve as the primary point of contact for estate owners while leading a specialized team of foreman and their crews. This role requires a sophisticated blend of horticultural expertise, elite customer service, and operational management to ensure every estate reflects a "botanical garden" standard of excellence. You’ll lead by example, uphold accountability at all levels, promote teamwork, and ensure all teams practice safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the main field contact for estate owners; maintain proactive communication and professional on-site relations.
  • Conduct regular walk-throughs with clients and site evaluations: compiling appropriate documentation to track site health & needs, solving landscape problems, meeting clients’ aesthetic goals.
  • Act as the main contact for site enhancement sales and the installation process.
  • Meet monthly sales goals to improve and evolve the estate landscape.
  • Monitor irrigation controllers and coordinate all necessary repairs to maintain optimal plant health.
  • Continually train foremen and labor in proper horticulture guidelines and the "lean process" to ensure high-quality, efficient work.
  • Remain hands-on with crews in the field, especially during the growing season, while ensuring all documentation and safety protocols are met.
  • Demonstrate mastery of all pruning practices and ensure crews are trained in pruning techniques needed.
  • Coordinate work schedules for seasonal needs and snow removal efforts during winter months.
  • Provide production budgets for all crews and monitor the integrity of timesheets and work orders within the accounting system.
  • Monitor equipment inventory, track repairs, and review equipment needs with the Department Manager.
  • Stay informed of new practices in the green industry and maintain a commitment to ongoing learning and process improvement.
  • Oversee interviewing, hiring, and orientation for new hires.
  • Conduct performance reviews and document personnel actions for foremen and crews.
  • Enforce company safety policies, lead safety meetings, and ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) is utilized correctly.

  • Salary Range: $55,000 – $65,000 per year (Based on experience and expertise).
