About The Position

If you’re passionate about helping others live independently, come join our Empire State Supportive Housing Initiative (ESSHI) team at Unity House of Troy! We provide supportive housing services that empower individuals living with mental illness to reach their goals and maintain stability in the community. At Unity House, we believe in the power of community and compassion. Our multidisciplinary teams work together to empower people to live their best lives by providing support, resources, and hope. Unity House is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency that provides a wide range of services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in our community who are hurting and struggling. We assist those who are living in poverty, adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, and children with developmental delays. We work to achieve social justice in our community and to create a better understanding of those we serve.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of experience working with adults living with mental illness and/or high-risk populations.
  • Valid New York State Driver License and reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with the homeless population a plus.
  • College degree in a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual skills a strong plus!

Responsibilities

  • Provide housing support services to individuals with mental illness.
  • Teach independent living skills to promote self-sufficiency.
  • Connect participants to entitlements, benefits, and community resources.
  • Advocate for and coordinate wraparound services with other providers.
  • Promote a culture of inclusion, respect, and belonging.
