TITLE: Assistant Coach-Esports QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrates skill, experience, or a strong understanding of competitive gaming, team coordination, and esports culture. Experience working with students in a coaching, mentoring, or instructional role preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and the public. Knowledge of esports titles sanctioned by the district or relevant governing bodies (e.g. Rocket League, League of Legends, Super Smash Bros., etc.). Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. REPORTS TO: D91 Esports Coordinator and Head Esports Coach JOB GOALS: To support the delivery of School District 91's mission to provide students with diverse and meaningful extracurricular opportunities that foster teamwork, leadership, and digital citizenship. To assist the Head Coach in developing an inclusive, competitive esports program that helps each participating student grow in skill, discipline, sportsmanship, and self-confidence. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the Head Coach in planning, organizing, and conducting team practices and competitions. Supports the development of individual player skills, team strategies, and communication both in and out of the game. Promotes a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that emphasizes respect, sportsmanship, and academic success. Helps manage program logistics, including scheduling matches, maintaining equipment, and supervising players during practices, events, and travel. Monitors player eligibility, attendance, and adherence to district, and program policies. Ensures the proper use and care of gaming systems, peripherals, and esports facilities. Complies with all rules and regulations of the State Board of Education, and the Board of Trustees for School District 91. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence, including attendance at district workshops on safety, student engagement, and technology use. Attends meetings and serves on committees as requested by the D91 eSports Coordinator or Head Coach. Maintains high standards of ethical conduct and confidentiality. Performs all other duties as assigned. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Employed annually under the Esports High School Assistant Coach stipend as per the Stipend Schedule. The exact amount of the stipend will depend on the percentage of the full stipend that is assigned to this position. EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Building Administrator as part of the teacher evaluation process in accordance with the Negotiated Master Contract.
