This function is friendly and helpful, largely due to the cross-collaborative nature of the roles. While you often work independently with your partner, you always have the greater finance organization to lean on for support or guidance. The ESG Data & Reporting Manager oversees the collection, validation, analysis, management, and disclosure of sustainability and ESG data for the organization. Reporting through Baxter's Finance team, this role partners heavily with the Sustainability team to support the delivery of accurate, auditable, clear, and impactful sustainability data and reporting that is compliant with global sustainability regulations and supports internal decision-making and stakeholder communications. The role will be critical in developing a centralized global center of excellence for ESG data, for utilization in Baxter's annual Corporate Responsibility Report, local reporting requirements, and internal goal tracking and KPI reporting. The role will have responsibilities for ensuring data alignment with global reporting regulations, implementing and maintaining ESG reporting systems, and driving continuous improvement in data quality and reporting efficiency. The individual in this role, reporting to the ESG Controller, will bring experience with master data, governance, process improvements, controls, audit and strong project management, plus technical knowledge of emerging ESG reporting frameworks, including CSRD, EU Taxonomy and ISSB. The role is ideal for a self-starter with strong data analysis skills, excellent attention to detail, and an ability to collaborate effectively with a range of internal collaborators.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge with upcoming mandatory ESG reporting frameworks and disclosure standards (CSRD and EU Taxonomy) required; ISSB strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Data Science and Analytics, or Sustainability/Environmental Science, strongly preferred
  • Proven experience in project plan development, management, data management and analytics, strongly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, strongly preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated knowledge with voluntary frameworks, disclosure standards, and ratings agencies (GRI, SASB, IFRS, TCFD, CDP, Ecovadis), preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol and GHG accounting methods (Scopes 1, 2, and 3), preferred
  • Proficient with Benchmark Gensuite, Watershed, Workiva, or similar GHG accounting and reporting technology, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise ESG data collection processes, collaborating with core business functions (including Finance, Sustainability, Internal Audit, Policy & Controls, FP&A, IT, Legal, Travel and Procurement) on data validation, quality management, documentation and record-keeping
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across business functions to define data ownership, support improvements in process maturity and data completeness, and identify gaps or inconsistencies. Evaluate processes and tools for efficiency, scalability, and automation opportunities
  • Design and support the implementation of data assurance internal controls, assisting with the training of internal stakeholders and data owners on the quality and governance requirements, ensuring compliance with mandatory reporting frameworks
  • Work closely with the ESG Controller on CSRD and EU Taxonomy reporting. Assist with materiality assessments, define scope, identify key data, and prepare disclosures. Help with calculating essential metrics, including supporting in forecasting and modeling different scenarios.
  • Lead all aspects of integrating new sustainability and ESG reporting tools, ensuring data accuracy and timely updates.
  • Coordinate with external assurance providers for review of CSRD and EU Taxonomy data and disclosures
  • Assist global teams with their data needs, in support of local reporting requirements, including ISSB
  • Monitor ongoing regulatory changes, partnering with Legal to assist with evaluation of scope and impact to the company.
