About The Position

The Office of Federal Programs is specifically seeking candidates who are committed to serving districts and schools to help them achieve their goals and improve student performance. Ideal candidates will have experience in education or related fields, as well as experience working with federal grants. The selected ESEA Program Specialist will act as a single point of contact for superintendents, treasurers, and district staff, guiding them on how to implement federal programs and effectively utilize resources to enhance student outcomes.

Requirements

  • 6 years of experience in any combination of the following: Providing technical assistance/support related to federal grants (i.e., implementing, monitoring, interpreting)
  • 6 years of experience in Education administration
  • 6 years of experience in Managing business best practices and initiatives to ensure financial compliance (i.e., auditing, financial management, resource allocation)
  • Must be willing and able to secure a valid driver’s license OR supply your own transportation
  • Experience in working in the education or related fields
  • Experience working with federal grants

Responsibilities

  • Provides training and support to school districts regarding the federal Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce’s data and compliance systems
  • Determines school district allocations, both formula and competitive, for ESEA and other federal programs
  • Provides support to internal and external stakeholders on ESEA and other federal laws, guidance, and state and federal budget and accounting principles
  • Provides support to ensure efficient school district implementation of the law
  • Assists school districts in receiving and utilizing federal ESEA and other federal funds
  • Assists school districts in completion of applications for federal funds and reviews for approval
  • Assists school districts with operating the e-grant planning and funding application (CCIP) and other systems used to administer and implement the consolidated application
  • Conducts trainings for internal and external stakeholders on federal ESEA laws and regulations, department operational systems, and office strategies and policies
  • Researches, compiles data, interprets and completes reports regarding state and federal laws
  • Conducts evaluations and monitors performance of districts regarding the ESEA and other federal programs
  • Prepares reports on school district compliance with federal laws and regulations
  • Conducts desk and onsite audits to monitor for compliance
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Office Administrator or Assistant Administrator
