About The Position

The Escheatment Lead (Unclaimed Property) along with the Escheatment Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all escheatment (unclaimed property) activities related to payment card products, including prepaid cards, and related settlement accounts. This role ensures compliance with federal and state unclaimed property laws, manages reporting and remittance processes, and serves as the subject matter expert on escheatment regulations impacting card programs. We are currently NOT hiring in the following geographies, including but not limited to: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, HI, IL, MA, MD, ME, MO, MT, NE, NJ, NY, OR, RI, VT, WA. And the following areas: Washington D.C.,Minneapolis MN

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least five years of experience in payments or card services, with a focus on reconciliations and financial analysis.
  • Hands‑on experience collaborating with card processors, issuing banks, or navigating network rules (Visa, Mastercard, etc.).
  • Proven project management capabilities and a track record of meeting tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Clear, professional communication skills—both written and verbal.
  • High level of integrity, sound judgment, and strong risk‑management awareness.
  • Comfortable and successful working in a fully remote environment.
  • Ability to manage increased workload during monthly, quarterly, or annual reporting periods.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Compliance with camera requirements for meetings and training.
  • Internet Service: Must have a verified, secure, reliable, and high-speed internet connection to support business needs.
  • Work Area: Must have an established, dedicated work area equipped with a desk, chair, electrical outlet, and direct LAN connection.
  • Equipment: The company will provide all necessary computer equipment
  • Internet Speed Test: Must complete an internet speed test and achieve 50 Mbps upload and 50 Mbps download .
  • Working knowledge of computers and Windows applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with escheatment software and large-scale data reporting.
  • Experience in unclaimed property/escheatment, preferably within financial services or payment cards.
  • Knowledge of state unclaimed property laws, dormancy periods, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience with prepaid cards, or payment card issuing programs.
  • Proven ability to manage regulatory filings and audits.
  • College degree.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end escheatment processes for payment card products, including identification, tracking, reporting, and remittance of unclaimed property.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal unclaimed property laws and regulations.
  • Monitor regulatory changes affecting escheatment and assess impact on card programs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain escheatment policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Prepare, review, and file accurate and timely unclaimed property reports with state authorities.
  • Coordinate due diligence mailings and owner outreach in accordance with statutory requirements.
  • Manage escheatment calendars, deadlines, and documentation retention.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Finance, Operations, Product, and Program Management teams to ensure escheatment requirements are embedded in card product design and lifecycle.
  • Serve as one of the primary points of contact for auditors, regulators, and state unclaimed property offices.
  • Support responses to regulatory exams, audits, and information requests related to escheatment.
  • Oversee data extraction, validation, and reconciliation of cardholder balances subject to escheatment.
  • Ensure accuracy of dormancy calculations, aging logic, and state-of-owner determinations.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies across processors, issuing banks, and internal systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve escheatment processes through automation and efficiency gains.
  • Assess and mitigate escheatment-related risks, including penalties, interest, and reputational risk.
  • Support internal audits and SOX controls related to unclaimed property.
  • Assist with managing relationships with third-party processors, escheatment service providers, and issuing banks as applicable.
  • Assist with ensuring vendors meet contractual and regulatory escheatment obligations.
