About The Position

Lake Norman Charter is thrilled to announce that our brand-new Lake Norman Charter Elementary School West campus will open its doors in August 2026! We are seeking Teacher Assistants for all grade levels (K-4) for the 2026-2027 school year. This application is for positions at both LNC ES East campus and LNC ES West campus. Lake Norman Charter Elementary School Teacher Assistant Position Type: Full-Time, 10-month FLSA Status: Non-exempt Location: Lake Norman Charter ES (East and West): Huntersville, NC Reports to: Building Principal Purpose: Lake Norman Charter (LNC) is a K-12 public charter school that provides a rigorous and comprehensive educational environment to develop students with a focus on college readiness, leadership, and social responsibility. An Elementary School Teacher Assistant provides support to a lead teacher in charge of a classroom by reinforcing lessons through tutoring individual students or small groups, documenting progress, providing supervision of students, and preparing lesson materials/learning spaces.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant field preferred
  • Preference for previous teaching, tutoring, or coaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Assists teachers with planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating instructional activities.
  • Assists students with learning; reinforces and clarifies instructions; conducts small group lessons for students; provides one-on-one assistance as needed.
  • Plans, prepares, and delivers engaging Leveled Literacy Interventions (LLI) for small groups of students.
  • Maintains records and documentation concerning the progress of students.
  • Constantly monitors the safety and well-being of students; monitors student attitudes and encourages positive behavior.
  • Supervises students in non-classroom activities such as carpool, lunch, recess, etc.
  • Communicates, consults, and cooperates with other members of the school staff to ensure student success.
  • Performs various clerical duties as needed (grades student papers and scores tests, makes copies, develops classroom display and instructional materials, etc.)
  • Participates in training related to performing job duties.
  • Performs related tasks as required or directed by the building principal.
