About The Position

This role is a highly technical and impactful position responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the Friedman Frontier ERP system, as well as custom applications on the IBMi (AS400) platform. You will ensure smooth operation across manufacturing, inventory, quality, and warehouse management modules while developing integrations, automations, and system improvements that drive operational efficiency. Working closely with IT colleagues and business stakeholders, you will troubleshoot issues, optimize processes, and implement scalable ERP solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong ERP and IBMi programming expertise, capable of managing multiple systems, supporting users, and leading technical projects in a fully remote environment. This role offers the chance to contribute to both legacy and modern applications while improving business operations across the organization.

Requirements

Bachelorâs degree in Information Technology or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of hands-on experience with Friedman Frontier ERP, including core manufacturing modules (inventory, warehouse management, quality, production) and planning tools (APS/MRP). Experience with additional ERP systems such as Sage or Global Shop is a plus.
Proficiency in IBMi (AS400) programming, including RPG, COBOL, SQL/DB2, and file structure management.
Familiarity with object-oriented development environments; Java experience preferred.
Experience with ERP integrations such as Varsity Shipping, label printing, EDI, APIs, and custom data flows.
Strong understanding of ERP security setup and administration.
Demonstrated ability to support the full ERP lifecycle: requirements, build, testing, training, and support.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills; able to work independently and collaboratively.
Effective communication skills, including user support, documentation, and training capabilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneNote, Visio, SharePoint) is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide primary support for Friedman Frontier ERP, including configuration, troubleshooting, process optimization, and integrations with related systems (Data Broker, Varsity Shipping, EDI, label printing).
Develop, maintain, and enhance custom IBMi applications using RPG, COBOL, SQL/DB2, and related technologies.
Analyze, debug, and resolve ERP and legacy system issues; implement fixes and improvements as needed.
Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, design solutions, and improve ERP-related processes across manufacturing, warehouse, inventory, and quality functions.
Administer ERP security, user access, and permissions while ensuring compliance with company policies and audit requirements.
Support ERP lifecycle activities including upgrades, patches, testing, training, and documentation.
Collaborate with IT colleagues and cross-functional teams to deliver ERP-related projects on time and within scope.
Maintain SOPs, work instructions, and documentation for ERP and IBMi systems, ensuring continuity and knowledge sharing.
