About The Position

The ER Tech, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care, considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family well-being, incorporating concepts of relationship-based care. This position is within the Emergency Department at Trinity Health's Livingston hospital, which has received Health Grades Clinical Achievement Awards in Cardiac, Pulmonary, Gastrointestinal, and Critical Care, and a Leapfrog Group Hospital “A” Safety Grade. The Emergency Department operates 24-hours a day, 365 days a year, addressing both minor illnesses/injuries and major life-threatening medical and surgical problems. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long term) or successful completion of CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
• Student nurses must have completed their nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.

Responsibilities

• Assist patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection.
• Collect and send specimens including blood and blood cultures.
• Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters.
• Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
