ER Registration/Scheduler - Evening Shift
About The Position
Glacial Ridge Health System is seeking an ER Registration/Scheduler to join our team (flexible Full- or Part-Time). In this role, you’ll handle patient registration and admissions, verify insurance eligibility, and accurately enter and maintain patient information in our electronic medical record (EMR) system. You’ll also serve as a welcoming first point of contact for patients and visitors, answer and direct incoming calls, and assist outreach schedulers as needed. This position is a great fit for candidates with a background in medical reception, hospital admissions, healthcare scheduling, or patient services.
Requirements
- Must have a strong background in customer service.
- Must have experience with personal computers and the ability to be trained to operate certain software applications.
- Must be friendly, courteous, responsible, and well-groomed.
- Ability to read and communicate effectively.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.

Responsibilities
- Register patients, verify and update necessary demographic information.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls and messages as necessary.
- Use the paging system as necessary.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefit coverage.
- Call patients for an appointment reminder and give patients verbal instructions if needed.
- Effectively communicate with nursing staff regarding ER patients; including, but not limited to patient complaints, registration status (amount of time until the patient will be able to see the nurse), visitors or family members waiting to see patient, if you are waiting for confirmation of ambulance transfer, etc.
- Direct and/or accompany visitors to patients as appropriate and inform visitors of hospital regulations as necessary.
- Cross-train for hospital reception / outreach admissions.
- Report to DON or Charge Nurse any situation that is a hazard to patient safety.
- Work the ER weekend/holiday rotation as assigned.
- Schedule Part-Time or Flexible Full-Time Monday – Friday, 1:30 pm – 10:00 pm
