We have new transformative owners, for all those on board, its going to be a challenging and a rewarding journey and we are just getting started. www.nacmem.org Position Purpose: The Admissions clerks greet patients, inquire about medical aliments, confirm prescheduled procedures, gathers/interviews incoming patients prior to admission, collects insurance, emergency information, and other data required to bring the patient into the hospital system.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Prior experience handling cash

Responsibilities

  • Admit patients promptly (within 5–8 minutes for inpatients/day surgery, 5 minutes for ER)
  • Verify insurance and obtain pre-certification within 24 hours of admission
  • Collect required signatures for treatment, insurance, and other forms with proper ID
  • Assign patient rooms and explain hospital pre-payment policies
  • Assist patients in understanding insurance benefits; refer uninsured patients to Credit Counselors
  • Confirm and update patient personal and insurance information, including emergency contacts
  • Collect payments, deductibles, and coinsurance at the time of service
  • Input patient data accurately and promptly into the Hospital Information System (HIS)
  • Prepare and apply patient identification wristbands
  • Arrange patient escorts to rooms when applicable
  • Handle difficult situations with care and professionalism
  • Provide courteous, accurate, and timely support to internal departments regarding billing and account information
  • Respond promptly to requests from managers, insurance companies, Medicare, and financial agencies
