This Equity Research Intern position is for the Financial Services Group (FSG) in Minneapolis, MN or Chicago, IL. It is an associate-level role offering a unique opportunity for an ambitious professional to contribute significantly to the FSG group. Piper Sandler enables client growth through deep sector expertise, candid advice, and a highly productive culture. Their equities sales & trading teams facilitate public offerings and provide aftermarket support, acting as a market maker in 2,500 securities. Over 50 senior analysts produce industry-leading, deep-sector research on more than 1,000 stocks, including a large small/mid cap coverage universe. The firm also provides investors with focused macro research from Institutional Investor top-ranked analysts, offering impartial insights into economic trends, energy, portfolio strategy, technical analysis, policy actions, and political developments. This internship is not a summer internship; it is anticipated to last for a 3-month period and is intended to transition into a salaried role upon successful completion and performance.

Requirements

  • The associate position is a demanding and fast-paced job that requires the ability to think quickly on one's feet and work independently
  • Strong candidates will have an intense interest in the stock market and a demonstrated record of professional, academic and personal achievement
  • Outstanding interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding quantitative and organizational skills
  • A strong competitive spirit balanced by a proven ability to work as part of a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics required
  • Strong financial modeling experience required
  • Securities Industry Essentials, Series 86 and 87 required (or willingness to obtain)

Nice To Haves

  • Progress towards CFA a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with the senior analyst to conduct extensive company and industry research
  • Create financial models and valuation analyses
  • Write company reports, industry reports, and develop investment recommendations
  • Form relationships with company management teams through meetings, calls, roadshows, etc.
