About The Position

The Orthopedic & Spine Hospital (TOSH), UAMS Health’s brand-new surgical hospital is looking for passionate teammates who are ready to join a team that’s redefining quality care. The Surgical Services Equipment Technician (SSET) works collaboratively with the staff in the operating room to assist in the safe and timely flow of patients through the operating rooms. The SSET moves beds and equipment into and out of the operating rooms as needed, and may, on occasion, be asked to assist with the transfer of patients to and from the operating table. The SSET must possess knowledge of specialized equipment used in the operating room to set up, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance. This person is accountable to the Service Managers and reports to the Director of Surgical Services. The Surgical Services Equipment Technician (SSET) works within the Department of Nursing standards. The SSET adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures, standards, and guest care guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED PLUS two (2) years of experience in healthcare
  • Ability to Follow Oral Instruction, Read and Write.
  • Computer literacy in Word/Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Moving equipment, beds, etc., into and out of rooms.
  • Setting up, troubleshooting, and assisting staff with equipment problems in operating rooms.
  • Providing routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Interacting with operating room staff to plan for and coordinate equipment needs for individual cases.
  • Interacting with Biomedical Engineering and coordinating outside service from original equipment vendors or third-party companies
  • Performing other non-technical roles related to medical equipment management.
  • Take direction from the circulators in the rooms, the Assistant Clinical Service Managers, facilitators, and the coordinators in setting priorities and meeting the equipment needs of the individual rooms.
  • Provides input to the Assistant Director, Assistant Clinical Services Managers and facilitators regarding equipment issues.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
