About The Position

Rummel Construction is seeking an experienced Equipment Superintendent to oversee equipment maintenance operations, coordinate repairs, and ensure the reliability and safety of our heavy equipment fleet. This position is responsible for managing mechanics, scheduling equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, coordinating parts procurement, and maintaining communication with jobsite and equipment management teams. The Equipment Superintendent plays a critical role in keeping equipment operational, minimizing downtime, and ensuring safe and efficient maintenance practices across job sites.

Requirements

  • Experience managing heavy equipment maintenance operations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction equipment repair and preventive maintenance practices.
  • Experience supervising mechanics and coordinating repair schedules.
  • Familiarity with equipment diagnostic and fleet management systems (e.g., VisionLink, Samsara, SIS, Service Advisor).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple repairs and manage equipment downtime efficiently.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Heavy civil construction or mining equipment maintenance experience.
  • Experience with CAT, John Deere, and similar heavy equipment platforms.
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems and equipment inspection reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize and coordinate repairs, with down equipment taking highest priority.
  • Schedule and oversee daily maintenance and repair activities for mechanics and service crews.
  • Conduct daily shift meetings to review equipment status, repair priorities, and jobsite needs.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules with Job Superintendents based on equipment availability and urgency.
  • Review equipment inspections, driver vehicle inspection reports, and maintenance data to identify repair needs.
  • Order parts through the purchasing department and coordinate with vendors.
  • Provide technical service information and repair documentation for mechanics (e.g., SIS, Service Advisor).
  • Ensure mechanics have the proper tools and equipment to perform repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Track parts orders, cores, and returned parts to maintain inventory and repair progress.
  • Communicate daily with mechanics, jobsite superintendents, and the Area Equipment Supervisor regarding equipment status.
  • Monitor mechanic work hours and workload distribution.
  • Maintain organized and safe maintenance areas at job sites.
  • Ensure required documentation is completed including Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), timecards, equipment inspections, and tool and truck inventory records.
  • Anticipate and eliminate potential hazards associated with maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and safe maintenance work environment.
