About The Position

An Equipment Operator job is available with the City of Fort Worth TPW Street Operations Department. Candidates for this position will work in designated asphalt and concrete maintenance sectors. Street Operations maintains over 8,500 lane-miles across the city, ensuring our communities enjoy safe, reliable commutes. This position is a first responder in severe weather conditions/emergencies, which will be subject to work after hours, emergency call back hours, nights, weekends, holidays, and will participate in an on-call rotation schedule.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED
One (1) year of responsible experience in operation of heavy equipment or construction experience
Must possess a Class A Driver’s License and ability to obtain a Tank Endorsement will be required within six (6) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices
Work zone safety
Additional construction repair and maintenance experience
Concrete or Asphalt experience
Experience with saws, compressors, generators, various hand tools, skid steer,and excavator
Basic computer skills & data entry experience

Responsibilities

Work in all weather conditions
Equipment operations and manual labor duties as they relate to street maintenance operations
Adheres to assigned work schedule as outlined in the Department and City attendance policies and procedures; ensures all behaviors comply with City’s Personnel Rules and Regulations
Performs preventative maintenance on equipment assigned. Perform pre and post trip inspection on equipment.
Loads and unloads heavy materials and equipment by hand and with tools/machines
Assists with set-up of traffic control cones and barriers
Maintain paperwork, respond to high priority calls and provide training and instruction to other personnel who operate equipment related to assigned division
