The Farm Nutrients Equipment Supervisor is responsible for coordinating tasks amongst a team of truck drivers to complete required and scheduled deliveries of manure as required to support Farm Nutrients manure operations. Responsible for inspecting, testing, and adjusting equipment, as well as licensing, numbering, and maintaining the inventory of all equipment required for completion of these hauling tasks. Provides daily work assignments to all equipment and truck drivers. Operates loaders and other equipment to unload, manage inventory, blend fertilizer and load trucks and is responsible for rolling stock repair and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license, CDL or other DOT qualifications for operation of a commercial motor vehicle
  • Mechanical and heavy equipment knowledge
  • Ability to drive tractors, front-end loader, pay-loader, skid loader, scat machine and trucks
  • Ability to operate power tools and equipment safely
  • Awareness and knowledge of surroundings in relation to climate, atmosphere, and equipment
  • Hand/Eye/Foot Coordination
  • Independent Self Starter/Team Player
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to read, understand and effectively communicate information through writing and speaking so others will understand
  • Intermediate English: speaking, reading, and writing
  • Mathematical skills: General Arithmetic/Basic Algebra/Percentages/Fractions

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques
  • Identifies employee development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained
  • Assign identification numbers to all equipment to assist in documenting equipment inventory and their locations
  • Diagnoses difficult equipment problems and recommends repairs
  • Inspects, tests, and adjusts equipment
  • Examines equipment at all locations to ensure preventative maintenance is being performed
  • Document and report condition of equipment at all locations to the supervisor
  • Operates skid steer loader to clean out chicken houses
  • Handles the blending of materials used for composting of spent hens and mortality
  • Transports supplies and equipment from location to location
  • Takes samples of manure coming out of houses for laboratory analysis
  • Tracks loads, calculates total tons, checks and mark fields, and guides trucks to proper locations
  • Performs other functions including site and equipment maintenance
  • Assists as needed during spring and fall fertilizer seasons with equipment moving and maintenance
  • Backup: A trained designee will be appointed by management to cover for absences or vacancies
  • Follows all Safety, Biosecurity, Environmental, and Animal Welfare Procedures
  • Ensures compliance with and follows all OSHA and REI safety regulations and procedures
  • Ensures that all care is provided with respect to customer, client, and co-workers’ rights
  • Ensures a safe and clean work environment

  • Adheres to work schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks
  • Takes appropriate action to ensure the integrity and sustained certification of the SQF system.
  • Responsible for reporting and taking any necessary action to prevent food safety and food quality problems from occurring.
  • Responsible for following and enforcing procedures outlined in the Food Safety Plan and the Food Quality Plan and any other programs that support the SQF system and other 3rd party audits
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
