About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to operate and maintain two (2) or more pieces of power construction or other heavy equipment; may supervise and train work crews.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Two (2) years of related experience
• Additional years of related education may substitute for years of related experience
• All Certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.
• Valid Driver's License
• Valid Kentucky Commercial Driver's License (CDL) - Class A and a valid Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certificate in order to qualify and must be maintained as a condition of employment. Must obtain Endorsement N - Tank Vehicles within the first six (6) months of employment and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
• Must be accessible to on-call duty and be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned and during emergencies.
• Positions are required to perform snow removal duties during weather emergencies.
• Must be able to operate Urban County Government equipment and vehicles in a safe, prudent and responsible manner.
• All positions require drug testing before employment and may require a post-job offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16.
• CDL holders are subject to FMCSA query prior to qualification

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment related to area of assignment
• Inspects equipment for proper operating condition and makes minor repairs, as needed
• Coordinates major repairs and preventative maintenance with fleet services
• Performs routine clerical duties such as completing route sheets, notices, service requests and other forms as necessary
• Performs related work as assigned
